Hornets boys roll over Wyalusing, 58-38

The Wellsboro Varsity boys basketball team pushed their win streak to three games as they handed Wyalusing a 58-38 loss Saturday night in Wyalusing.

The Hornets held a 16-15 lead after the first quarter, but scored 21 points in the second to blow the game open. In the second half, the Hornets outscored the Rams 21-9 to claim the NTL Division 1 victory.

Junior Michael Pietropola led four Hornets in double figures with 16 points, Senior Joey Doganiero scored 13 points, Junior Kieron Smethers added 11, Sophomore Dawson Prough had 10, and Senior Dylan Prough pitched in 8.

In the J.V. game the Hornets lost 34-22 to fall to 2-11 on the year.

With the win, the Varsity team improves to 9-4 (3-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Monday, January 20 as they travel to Canton.
