NEB boys top CV; ND beats Oxford.

ROME — Northeast Bradford used a 14-6 third quarter to top Cowanesque Valley 52-43 in District IV, Class AA boys' basketball quarterfinal action Tuesday.

NEB will now face top seed Wyalusing at a date, time and place to be named later.

Thanks to some strong 3-point shooting, NEB took a narrow 15-14 first quarter lead, but CV came back and tied it up at 22-all at the half.

After their big third quarter, the Panthers led 36-28. From there they held on, outscoring CV 16-15 in the fourth quarter for the win.

Zak Smith had 18 points, five boards and four assists to lead NEB while Andy Crown had a double-double of 10 points and 12 boards while also blocking two shots.

Chazz Labarre added 10 points, Tony Bisignano added five points with two steals, Clayton Connor had four points and two rebounds, Lucas Crown added three points with three boards while Nick Marino chipped in with two points and four boards.

Tyler Vargeson scored 11 points to lead the Indians while Seth Huyler and Christian Kemp had eight points each.

Skylar Vinluan netted seven, Dan Freeman added six while Kurt Easton notched three points.


Meadowbrook Christian 46, North Penn-Liberty 35

MILTON — The Mountaineers came up short in the District IV, Class A boys' basketball quarterfinal game Tuesday.

Meadowbrook jumped out to an 11-5 first quarter lead but NP-Liberty hung tough in the second quarter, keeping it a 17-12 halftime deficit.

A 15-10 third quarter in favor of North Penn-Liberty tied it up at 27-all. However, Meadowbrook outscored them 19-8 in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Logan Horsley led NP-Liberty with nine points while Brandyn Choplosky added eight points.

Nick Grinnell netted six, Logyn Choplosky and Duncan Zeafla each added five while Mikah Kolb had two points.

Colin Erb led Meadowbrook Christian with 17 points.

Lourdes 66, Galeton 40

Lourdes outscored the Tigers 27-19 in the second half to pull away for the District IV, Class A boys' basketball quarterfinal game Tuesday.

Lourdes jumped out to an 18-11 first quarter lead but Galeton held on to keep it a 27-21 deficit at the half.

Isaiah Shuemaker led Galeton with 21 points while C.J. Reichard had 17 points, nine assists and five boards to lead Lourdes. Adam Sandri added 17 points.



Notre Dame 68, Oxford 49

Gary Raupers led the Crusaders with 25 points, 10 steals and six assists to lead the Crusaders to a boys' basketball playoff win Tuesday.

Notre Dame will now travel to Tioga Friday with a 7:30 p.m. start.

Nearly 50 members of Raupers' family were in attendance as it was his first game back since the death of his father last week.

The Crusaders led 36-28 at the half, then reeled off a 22-6 third quarter to pull away for the win.

Justin Bauco added 12 points while Ben Cook scored 11. Ryess Youmans and Dan Stearns had five points each, Kyreese Fisher and Cole Clark both netted four and Isaiah McKay chipped in with two points.

Chris Martin led Oxford with 19 points.



Southern Columbia 55, North Penn-Mansfield 32

CATAWISSA — Southern jumped out to a 15-4 first quarter lead and never looked back in their girls' basketball playoff win Tuesday.

JoAnne McNamara had 13 points to lead NP-Mansfield while Shae Berguson added nine points.

Jaime Palmer scored five, Jeannette Montefusco added four and Hannah Bowens netted one.

Southern will now face Muncy in the next round.
